چکیده

Several new multi-carrier transmission techniques such as Filter Bank Multi-Carrier (FBMC), Universal Filtered Multi-Carrier (UFMC), and Generalized Frequency Division Multiplexing (GFDM) are being proposed as alternatives to orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) for future wireless communication systems. Since multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) will be an integral part of the 5th Generation (5G) cellular systems, the performance of these new schemes needs to be investigated for MIMO system. Space-time block codes (STBC) are widely used in MIMO system because of their ability to achieve full diversity and the simple linear processing at the receiver. In this work, we propose different approaches for the application of STBCs in UFMC. These approaches are based on type of receive filtering used for UFMC. Moreover, we also investigate the performance of these proposed schemes over frequency selective environments, and compare it with the performance of the other non-orthogonal techniques mentioned above.

Cooperative Orthogonal Space-Time-Frequency Block Codes over a MIMO-OFDM Frequency Selective Channel

In this paper, a cooperative algorithm to improve the orthogonal space-timefrequency block codes (OSTFBC) in frequency selective channels for 2*1, 2*2, 4*1, 4*2 MIMO-OFDM systems, is presented. The algorithm of three node, a source node, a relay node and a destination node is formed, and is implemented in two stages. During the first stage, the destination and the relay antennas receive the sym...

Comparison of Space-Time Block Coding and Cyclic Delay Diversity for a Broadband Mobile Radio Air Interface

In this paper, we apply two different types of space-time block codes (STBC) in the downlink of a broadband mobile radio air interface based on MCCDMA, which is a promising candidate for a 4 generation mobile radio system. The first type are ”STBCs from orthogonal designs”. For 2 TX-antennas, this is the wellknown ”Alamouti”-scheme. These STBCs are compared to a different type, called cyclic de...

Towards a flexible harmonised 5G air interface with multi-service, multi-connectivity support

Current 4G air interfaces (AIs), by which we mean existing cellular standards and their evolution, including internetworking with other technologies such as WLAN, lack the flexibility required for support of multiple and diverse services envisaged for 5G, such as Massive Machine-Type Communications – mMTC, Ultra-reliable Machine-Type Communications – uMTC, and Extreme Mobile Broadband – xMBB, w...

Air interface design for 5G: a METIS-II perspective

This paper describes the approach adopted by EU H2020 / 5G-PPP project “METIS-II” for a harmonized 5G air interface (AI) design, based on a suitability assessment framework for 5G AI candidates. The assessment focuses on “harmonization KPIs” and how to measure them (qualitatively / quantitatively). The paper proposes that evaluation of 5G AI candidates should, in addition to performance, includ...

Performance Evolution of Different Space Time Block Codes With Linear Receiver

We document the performance of space– time block codes, which provide a new paradigm for transmission over Rayleigh fading channels using multiple transmit antennas. It has been shown that a complex orthogonal design that provides full diversity and full transmission rate for a space–time block code is not possible for more than two antennas. The objective of this paper is to provide the descri...
